In this series Janice Isabel Jackson and Barbara Pritchard took a  look at the intriguing music and writings of John Cage.  They explored his quirky take on things as well as his influence on the music of Canadian composers.

Music and writings of John Cage, including Aria and Water Music; some lovely songs by Udo Kasemets; a few of John Weinzweig's Impromptus for solo piano; Louis Andriessen's wonderful arrangements of the Beatles' Ticket to Ride, and Michelle,  one hilarious, the other hauntingly beautiful

Sandy Moore’s opera is centered on Mona Parson’s arrest and imprisonment by the Nazis, and her subsequent escape.  This was  a concert performance of the new work, with Janice Isabel Jackson singing the role of Parsons. Jackson was supported by a cast of six other singers, with Barbara Pritchard at the piano.

This was a five-part series of lighthearted, hour-long lecture/recitals on new music for solo voice and solo piano.  Janice and Barbara  explored the issues around taking a new work from the page to the stage, focusing on the music of several Canadian composers including: WL Altman, Robert Bauer, Derek Charke, Linda George-Wegner, Barbara Monk Feldman, Marie Pelletier, James Rolfe and Rick Sacks.
